After a break for knee repairs, I'm back in the studio

Life has its inconvenient events. In my case, knee surgery meant a month of brain fog, pills, ice packs, and confinement. I’m more myself now.

Currently at Arts Benicia: I, We, They is a juried show exploring identity and self. I have two gouache paintings on view through July 21. Info about Arts Benicia. It’s a beautiful venue and an incredibly diverse show! Sales support a community art center.

It’s such a gift to work with professional art models. Honey, in his grandmother’s feather hat, appropriates her glamor as a part of himself, and shares it with the group of artists. Inky, a tiny tawny body-builder, is always completely herself, amongst the group of enthralled older women. The model’s “I,” shared with our group, highlights the “we,” and breaks down the “they” of other-ness.

Eggplants, Fore & Aft and Fennel are at Studio Gallery in San Francisco. The show is Delicious. Small, both, left is 10” x 8” right, Fennel, is 7” x 5” Both framed in natural maple. Studio Gallery's website.
