Molate Quonset Huts, Spring
Molate Quonset Huts, Spring
One of a kind, in life as well as in art. The Quonset Huts at Pt Molate Beach in Richmond inhabit a space near the beach, behind a fence, surrounded by both odd ornamentals and native plants. Probably built in the 1940s as part of the war effort, they are still used for storage. The shapes echo the surrounding hills. As often occurs, the massive yews behind have been removed. Plus ça change…
The painting is 18” x 24” framed in natural maple. Was part of the 2023 DeYoung Open.
